About

In the midst of the 9th century a small remote monastic community lives independently from the world atop a rocky island off the coast of Ireland. Life on the island is extremely difficult and few men are admitted to join. Most are turned away upon arrival.

Finnian, a fiery and adventurous young eighteen year old boy from the mainland, rebelliously leaves a monastic school with the intention of joining the monks on the the distant isle.

What happens next is most unexpected and through a series of mysterious events the young boy is caught up into an adventure he never thought possible.

We immerse Star Wars fans into the beauty and ancient history of Skellig Michael’s monastery through comic books and other media.

CREATOR / WRITER

Philip Kosloski is a writer well known for his accessible articles on topics of spirituality and Church history at Aleteia.org as well as his best selling non-fiction book (The Last Monks of Skellig Michael) upon which this project is based.

Michael LaVoy is an up-and-coming artist known for his stunning Living Sparks of God coloring book for kids.

COVER ARTIST / ADVISER

Jim Fern became an inker for Marvel in 1983 working on various Spider-Man titles. He later started penciling as a fill-in artist on titles such as Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men Annual #13 (where he co-designed and drew Jubilee in her first story), Transformers and Wolverine. Fern also started working with DC Comics as an artist on such titles as Legion ’90, Adventures of Superman, Batman, Detective COMICS, and co-created the series Scarlett. He is also co-creater and designer for Crossing Midnight with Mike Carey published by DC’s Vertigo line. In addition to his comic book work, Jim has worked as a Walt Disney World artist for the Disney Design Group.

Jim will be designing the cover artwork and is an active adviser on this project, ensuring a quality comic book.

ADVISER

John Webber is a former animator with Walt Disney Feature Animation. He worked as a ruff animation artist for Pocahontas and Hercules as well as a character animator for Mulan, Lilo and Stitch, Brother Bear and other Disney films. John is currently the Associate Chair of the animation department at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

John is an adviser on this project and assists with story development among other things.
